Canberra is Australia's national capital city and as such is home to the Australian Federal Government. It is a planned city, strategically located between Sydney and Melbourne, which houses many of Australia’s most intrinsic government and corporate operations.  Canberra has access to an abundance of resources and infrastructure, which makes it the ideal location for a scalable, sustainable, long-term data centre development.

Canberra boasts some of the country's most advanced broadband telecommunication infrastructure and is situated on major telecommunications trunks that provide connectivity to the world's major telecommunications carriers.

In terms of energy resources, Canberra is located between the NSW electricity node and Snowy electricity node and is supplied by gas from the Moomba pipeline and the Eastern Gas Pipeline.

As the nation’s capital, a substantial educational and university region and as the largest information economy in Australia, Canberra is serviced to provide the most robust national and regional telecommunications coverage.

Major Australasian telecommunications companies such as Cable & Wireless Optus and Telstra have installed high capacity and connectivity in Canberra and to the eastern seaboard of Australia and between the major capital cities ensuring that Canberra is strategically positioned for connectivity.

As a result Canberra is home to Australia’s most advanced fibre optic cable network, providing greater bandwidth, high speed internet and capacity to run large e-commerce applications across the Asia-Pacific region.

Canberra is connected internationally via the major fibre cable networks such as Australia Japan Cable, Southern Cross Cable, SEA-ME-WE3, APCN Jasuraus and Tasman 2.

In addition to the existing providers there are currently a number of large international companies laying further cable services that will ensure Canberra remains at the forefront of our international connectivity.
